Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’ve already taken the first abortion pill, do I have to take the second one?
No. Women sometimes express feelings of regret after taking the first abortion pill. If this describes you or a friend, there is help available. Don’t wait, visit abortionpillreversal.com or call now for information about abortion pill reversal: (877) 558-0333. This helpline is open 24/7.

What is the abortion pill?
The abortion pill is a chemical abortion, also known as a medication or medical abortion, used in early pregnancy. The abortion pill (RU4-86) can be taken up to 70 days after a woman’s last menstrual period. The abortion pill is actually two drugs that in combination, work to end the pregnancy. One pill is typically taken at the clinic and the other is typically taken at home.

How does the abortion pill work?
The first pill thins the lining of the uterus. The second pill, taken within the first 72 hours of the first dose, causes contractions to expel the fetus from the uterus.

If I’m considering the abortion pill, what are my next steps?
For your safety, there are three steps that you should take before ordering or taking the abortion pill.

  1. Confirm your pregnancy (a positive pregnancy test is an indicator, not a confirmation) and how far along you are. Taking the abortion pill when you are too far along is dangerous to your health. Full Circle provides free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds to confirm if your pregnancy is viable and how far along you are.
  2. Learn more about the abortion pill. Get information on certain health conditions that disqualify women from having a medication abortion and learn more about the side effects of the abortion pill. You can talk openly to one of our client advocates or nurses and ask any questions you need in a safe, judgment-free space.
  3. Rule out any STIs to reduce your risk of infection or complications. We can provide referrals for STD testing in McMinn County.

What if I’m no longer in my first trimester, what are my options?
If you are more than 10 weeks pregnant, we can still provide a free ultrasound to determine exactly how far along you are and what your pregnancy options are by trimester.
